Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron met yesterday with local NFU representatives to discuss the future of UK farming post-Brexit. Tim has pledged to fight for British farmers.

The NFU representatives stressed concerns about market access and the possibility of tariffs, as well as the future of farm subsidies.

Tim said: "Farming is a big part of our area and our communities, and I will do all I can to ensure that British farming remains viable. Our farmers need tariff-free access to European markets, and need reassurance about the future of farm support payments which many rely on. Farmers need to plan ahead for the years to come and make long-term decisions about investment; instead, they face uncertainty. I am backing British farming, and will be pushing the government to do what is necessary to ensure that it can thrive."
