South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has today attended a 'Great Get Together' event in Storth, inspired by Jo Cox MP who was killed on this day last year.

Pupils from Storth Primary School worked with local WI members to organise the event and put on an afternoon tea. The pupils also performed a number of songs as entertainment - including dedicating 'You've got a friend in me' to the memory of Jo Cox.

Tim said: "One year on from the tragic murder of Jo Cox, it is heart-warming and inspiring to know that events like this are happening across the country, to bring communities together and celebrate all that unites us.

"This was a lovely event, and my heartfelt thanks go to the Storth Primary School pupils and to the WI for all their efforts.

"In Jo Cox's famous words, 'we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.' This event was a reminder of that truth."
