South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called on local businesses to go to a meeting in Kendal next Thursday about the proposed Business Improvement District (BID).

The meeting will be held at 5:45pm on Thursday 23rd May at the Shakespeare Centre, to give local businesses the chance to find out more about the projects and proposals which could be delivered via a Business Improvement District.

The BID is subject to a vote early next year, and could see almost £1 million to go towards four projects designed to generate more visits and sales.

If businesses are in favour, the BID would run for five years and, if successful, businesses may vote to continue well beyond that.

Tim said: "I hope that local businesses get involved in the BID process and get as much information as possible. Any extra charge on a business is difficult but this funding could make a massive difference to the town."
