Local curry house, Eastern Balti has won a place in the regional final of the prestigious Lyca Tiffin Cup 2011, after being chosen by Tim Farron MP to represent Westmorland and Lonsdale in the competition.

The national competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

This year 60 restaurants were nominated. Easter Balti, having won a place in the regional final will battle it out with other restaurants from the North West to become one of the national finalists in the Lyca Tiffin Cup 2011 Grand Final.

Within the next few weeks a mystery diner will visit the restaurant and judge whether the restaurant should go through to the Grand Final to represent the North West.

Speaking today Tim said: "I am delighted to have been able to nominate Eastern Balti in the Tiffin Cup and extremely proud that they have made it through to the regional finals.

"I'm sure everyone in the South Lakes will be behind them as they bid to make it through to the Grand Final of this celebrated award and truly put the South Lakes on the culinary map where it belongs."
