Cumbrian MPs Join Forces To Host Parliamentary Cumbria Day

South Lakes MP Tim Farron will join forces with Cumbria's five other MPs to host a parliamentary event to showcase Cumbrian business and produce.

The event, known as 'Cumbria Day' will be held in Parliament on 6th December and will be sponsored by the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership. The event will be an opportunity, not only to showcase Cumbria to Parliamentarians from across the UK, but also for Cumbrian business to benefit from important networking opportunities on a national level.

Cumbria Day is being jointly hosted by all six of Cumbria's MPs: Jamie Reed, Tim Farron, John Stevenson, John Woodcock, Rory Stewart and Sue Hayman. Each MP has nominated three businesses to represent their constituency on the day. The three local producers invited by Tim were Bowness Bay Brewery, Grasmere Gingerbread, and W.McClure wholesale foods.

Other attendees from elsewhere include The Lakes Distillery from Copeland, Carvetti Coffee from Workington, Lakes and Lambs from Penrith and the Border, Calder Foods Ltd from Carlisle and Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream from Barrow in Furness.

Tim said: "I am delighted to be working with colleagues to host Cumbria Day in Parliament. I am incredibly proud of the excellent businesses and produce that we have here in South Lakeland and across Cumbria, and I look forward to showcasing them to colleagues in December.

"Local businesses work hard to support the Cumbrian economy and create jobs, and this year has been a particularly challenging one due to the devastating floods last winter. However, it has been inspiring to see how businesses across Cumbria have bounced back over the last year.

"I am pleased to help organise this important national networking opportunity which will help to showcase Cumbrian produce to a new audience."
