Kendal's MP Tim Farron has heralded the second Comic Arts Festival held in the town as "fantastic". Tim believes the event has given the town a 'significant economic boost'.

Thousands of comic fans flocked to Kendal for a weekend of events, talks and exhibits.

Tim visited Ruskins Bar on Friday to meet the staff and see the how the bar had been turned into 'the Batcave' for the weekend. This year 36 businesses in Kendal paired up with schools, colleges and community groups to create an 'art trail'.

Tim said: "Kendal is now seen as a comic art town and this is fantastic for our economy. Kendal really was buzzing this weekend and I am sure that has given our town a major boost.

"I want to pay tribute to Julie Tait and all those involved in the organisation of the event. The Comic Arts Festival really is putting Kendal on the culture map around the world."
