Campaign to slow traffic on Kendal’s roads

Councillor Jon Owen

The local Liberal Democrat team in Kendal are taking action to slow down speeding traffic on Windermere Road and Burneside Road.

Local councillor Jon Owen has helped to set up a speedwatch group on Windermere Road so that local residents can learn how to use a hand-held speed monitoring device.

Working with the police, local residents will be able to raise concerns about speeding traffic with more evidence to support their case.

Jon, alongside fellow local councillor Stephen Coleman, are hoping to set a similar group up to monitor speeding traffic on Burneside Road.

Jon said: "It was great to be out with local residents on Windermere Road.

"This new group will help put more power in residents' hands to solve speeding concerns.

"On Burneside Road, the speed table we campaigned for a few years ago is definitely helping, but there are still some issues at other points.

If any local residents would like to join a speedwatch group please do get in touch with either Jon on owenjon@rocketmail.com or Stephen on s.coleman@southlakeslibdems.org.uk
