A Message Of Hope At Christmas - Tim Farron
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has delivered his first Christmas message as leader of the Lib Dems, and reflected on a message of hope for the festive period.
Tim explained that Christmas means more than just feeling a sense of festive warmth towards others, but also a willingness to roll-up our sleeves to make lives better.
Tim highlighted the plight of those with "no place to call home" explaining how he had been deeply affected not just by visits to Lesvos and Calais to witness the refugee crisis, but also by events in his own constituency following severe flooding.
Tim pointed to the efforts of thousands of people who everyday put others before themselves in communities across the country, praising the "many people of all faiths and none this Christmas who will be giving up their time to help others, whether the homeless or refugees." These people, he said, "are demonstrating practically what it means to be people of hope."
Tim added: "No matter what our faith, or values or beliefs are, my hope this Christmas is that we are all inspired to look outwards and upwards, as we seek to make our country a compassionate, liberal and welcoming one."
