On World Mental Health Day, South Lakes MP Tim Farron has launched a campaign to improve mental health services in the county and said he will work hard over the next twelve months 'to raise the issue up a political agenda that currently ignores mental health'.

Tim is campaigning to do two things. He wants to improve mental health provision locally and improve access to help and support for those who suffer from poor mental health. Tim is also launching a campaign to force the Government to provide extra funds for mental health services throughout England.

One in four adults in Britain will experience at least one diagnosable mental health problem in any one year.

Tim said: "Mental health services are vital, but are never talked about. I am committed that this silence must end. Many men and women, young and old live with this silent disease and I don't want people to suffer in silence any more. I am launching a campaign to improve services, funding and provision, so that everyone gets the care and support they deserve."
