MP welcomes new online system for reporting highways faults

South Cumbrian MP Tim Farron has welcomed a new online system launched this week by the County Council to make it easier for residents to report highways faults and for the council to address them.

The new online system enables users to log on and pinpoint the exact location of the problem on an interactive map, as well as to upload photos. Residents can report everything from potholes and blocked drains through to lighting issues and overgrown vegetation.

Residents can also track other faults that have been reported, and can sign up for updates on what is being done to address each one.

Tim said: "This new online system makes it easier for residents to report problems and easier for the council to find and deal with them. The Lib Dems on the County Council have pushed hard for improvements to our county's road network and we are seeing real improvements. Over £80million will be invested in highways maintenance in 2017/18. This new system will mean that issues can be dealt with quickly and efficiently as they come up, and help to keep our roads safe and in good condition."
