This afternoon, local MP Tim Farron was presented with a petition signed by over 200 Kendal Town supporters calling for the club to be saved.

Kendal Town FC is effectively now without a first team squad following a mass exodus of players after the club refused to pay them.

The leadership of club is also rejecting to talk to a consortium who are bidding to take over the club with a promise of a cash injection of £100,000.

Tim said: "From conversations I've had over the past couple of days it's clear that the leadership of the club has completely lost the support of the fans.

"In its 100th year, we simply cannot let Kendal Town go down the pan.

"The consortium's bid is still on the table and is the only viable way through this mess. I'm calling on the club to think again and, for the sake of the future of Kendal Town, reopen talks with the consortium."

Supporters will be able put questions they have to club officials at an open meeting at Kendal Town FC's ground on Monday evening from 7pm.
