South Lakes MP Tim Farron has paid tribute to local charity Manna House and their staff for the amazing work they do to help the most vulnerable in our community, as they launch their 'Winter Shelter'.

Manna House, based on Aynam Road in Kendal works for the benefit of the public in South Lakeland for those who are homeless, vulnerably housed, lonely or needing help.

They offer drop in help, support and skills to vulnerable and homeless people in our community. In recent times they have also branched out into offering homeless people job opportunities at The Gate, which can be found on Stricklandgate by County Hall. Added to all this fantastic work is the opening of the 'Winter Shelter', a project coordinated with local churches to offer people a place to stay over the winter period. 5 different churches will be opening their doors to people in need throughout the winter. The launch of the project takes place on Sunday 1st December at the ParishChurch at 6pm.

Tim said: "Manna House do some amazing work in our community and help change peoples lives for the better. They do this through their help, support and their staff - the team led by Jonathan Brook work tirelessly to help local people. I feel that same commitment and I am proud to call myself a friend and supporter of their organisation.

"The love and compassion the team at Manna House show really does make a difference to vulnerable people in the winter and I am delighted to be backing their Winter Shelter campaign and I know it will be a big success."
