South Lakes MP Tim Farron has praised the emergency services for their 'commitment and work' after storms battered the county yesterday.

Residents, motorists and commuters faced widespread disruption yesterday throughout Cumbria as roads were flooded and trains cancelled following gale force winds.

Tim said: "I want to pay tribute to the emergency services and transport staff for their commitment, speed and professionalism. They did amazing work yesterday and I want to thank them for all they did."
