South Lakes MP Tim Farron visited Staveley Primary School on Friday to see the school's latest film project.

Tim met pupils involved in the school's Film Club and the Filmmaking Club. He watched two short films the students had made. One film about war linked interviews the students had done with war footage. The other was an animated film the students had created.

Tim also took part in a Q&A session, ranging from Tim's views on the EU to questions about films. Tim spoke to the students about how, as a teenager, the film Cathy Come Home inspired him to go into politics.

Tim said: "The students had produced some excellent films - I was very impressed. The films were well-produced and showed the students had really thought about the project. They should be very proud. I also enjoyed the Q&A - the students are clearly interested in the world around them and how politics affects them. My thanks go to the school and to Into Film for giving the students the opportunity to explore filmmaking."
