Local MP Tim Farron recently joined the local community in Witherslack to celebrate 10 years since the community shop opened.

A decade ago, the community in Witherslack responded to the loss of their post office and store by opening their own community-run shop.

In celebration, the village held a cream tea event at the shop, which raised £500 for Macmillan nurses.

Tim said: "It was great to be able to join the local community in Witherslack to celebrate 10 years since they opened the shop.
"The post office was such a key part of the village and so the community's response in setting up their own successful shop speaks volumes about the kind of people they are.
"Here's to the next 10 years!"
