MP CELEBRATES AS KENDAL’S ‘ROAST MUTTON’ WINS BEST BUTCHER IN BRITAIN
On Wednesday, Cumbrian MP Tim Farron attended the 'Countryside Alliance' Awards 2023 hosted in Westminster which aim to showcase the best of British rural talent.
Two Cumbrian businesses had won regional awards for the North of England. Heft and Roast Mutton had both been successful in achieving the award for best pub and butchers respectively.
Both businesses source their produce from local farms and support sustainable farming practices.
Roast Mutton, and its owner Rob, went on to win in the national categories and are now officially considered the best British butcher. Rob, and Roast Mutton, are passionate about doing their part to fight climate change with sustainable farming and sourcing of ingredients and showcasing professional butchery skills.
Tim said: "It's amazing to see the skills of our rural communities getting recognised like this.
"Both Heft and Roast Mutton are run by hard working, innovative, and locally minded people.
"I am exceptionally proud to have two of our own on the national stage and being recognised for their excellent work."
