On Friday local MP Tim Farron met with representatives from the Bowness business community, Cumbria Police and Cumbria County Council, to lend his support to the campaign to bring a new coach stop to north Bowness.

The campaign, launched by local resident and businesswoman Pamela Bissland, aims to create a new coach drop off point at the top ofLake Road, opposite the Quarry Rigg car park.

The new drop off site is designed to encourage visitors to explore Bowness fully, as at present many are put off from walking up the steep hill leading up from the Glebe into Bowness village itself. Cumbria County Council have confirmed that they are currently drawing up plans for the new drop off spot.

Tim commented: 'After speaking to local businesses and residents to hear for myself what a new drop off point can achieve, I am delighted to lend my support to this campaign. Encouraging more visitors to explore Bowness and support our local businesses would be a big boost to the local economy. I want to congratulate Pamela on the excellent work she has done so far and I am keen to offer any further help that I can.'
