South Lakes MP and Lib Dem Party President Tim Farron has this morning said that the Liberal Democrats have helped to restore the UK economy to pre-crash levels.

The UK economy has grown by 0.8% over the last quarter, meaning the country has now exceeded the level of economic output we had before the banking crisis in 2008.

Tim said: "Today is a big day for Britain. The rescue is working and Britain's economy is the same size as it was before the financial crash. This is fantastic news for people in Cumbria. Locally we have been doubled apprenticeships, defended our hospital and are working to electrify the Lakes Line.

"Today's figures have partly come about because we have fought for tax cuts for the people who need them most. 22,010 people on low and middle incomes in Cumbria have been lifted out of paying tax altogether, while a further 200,200 people in Cumbria will have received an £800 cut in their income tax bill by next April."
