With MPs set to debate the Cycling and Walking Delivery plan in the House of Commons next week, Tim has joined British Cycling to back the plan's proposals and called for more support, funding and infrastructure to be spent on cycling.

Britain is now one of the most successful cycling nations in the world but Tim believes until we embed cycling as an everyday part of British culture we will not be a true cycling nation.

British Cycling supports the recommendations of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group's Get Britain Cycling report led by Tim's colleague Julian Huppert MP.

British Cycling, led by policy adviser Chris Boardman, is urging government to commit sustained levels of funding calling for a spend of £10 a head to turn Britain into a cycling nation to rival countries like Denmark and the Netherlands.

Tim has also called on Cumbria's councils to work together to improve cycling provision in the South Lakes.

Tim is calling on all tiers of local government to work together to improving cycling infrastructure in our area. He believes that more can be done to make cycling easier. Tim is also stressing the need to improve cycling infrastructure, which he believes will help boost tourism in our area.

Tim said: "This report is welcome news, but we need the Government to now agree go one step further and make the commitment to at least £10 per head funding to make safe cycling within the UK as soon as possible, not in 6 years, but now. I think Cumbria can lead the way and I will be pressing for this to happen at both a local and national level."
