MP takes to the airwaves for local hospital radio station’s 41-hour marathon weekend
Local MP Tim Farron took to the airwaves on Saturday as part of a local hospital radio's 41-hour marathon weekend.
Bay Trust Radio, which is based at Kendal's Westmorland General Hospital, marked their 41st birthday by holding a marathon broadcast which celebrated all things local.
Throughout the weekend, volunteers were joined by local musicians, local politicians and other special guests for the uninterrupted 41-hour programme which raised over £2,000 for the station.
During the broadcast, Tim joined local volunteer Craig McCarron on air to chat about music, politics and Tim's beloved Blackburn Rovers.
Tim said: "I really enjoyed spending time with the Bay Trust Radio team as part of their live 41-hour marathon.
"A big well done to all the volunteers who gave up their time to help with the broadcast.
"Bay Trust Radio is a great example of local community radio, with immensely skilled volunteers and kit that is better than some professional radio stations.
"This is definitely a station that is really going places."
