South Lakes MP, Tim Farron, is holding a public meeting at John Ruskin School in Coniston this Saturday, 31st August, to discuss the growing threat to NHS funding for rural services.

The public meeting, which will be held between 10.30am-12.30pm, will cover how the NHS funding for general practices in England works and what financial threats to small rural practices could come from these funding changes. Tim will address the meeting on what is being done to address this problem on a national level.

The meeting will also hear from Doctors at the threatened practices, and a member of Coniston Parish Council.

Commenting, Tim said: 'This was the top issue raised with me on my annual surgery tour. In Coniston 35 people came to see me and in Hawkshead over 80 people came to discuss the issue.

'I will fight as hard as I can to protect our rural GPs and work tirelessly to protect the services and investments our previous campaigns have won.

'I'm sure we will see a great turnout at the meeting on Saturday!'
