Cumbrian MP Tim Farron has tabled a motion in Parliament in support of the North West Evening Mail's "We Want to Work" Campaign, recognising its early success and calling for similar schemes to be available throughout the region.

The scheme aims to match enthusiastic jobseekers from south Cumbria with local businesses able to offer them opportunities in line with their skills and experience, or give them an invaluable opportunity in the area of work they wish to get involved in.

Commenting, Tim said: "I am extremely pleased to see the 'We Want to Work' Campaign making strides in tackling unemployment and offering fantastic opportunities to motivated, committed people who want to work for a living.

"People in Cumbria who are out of work face huge challenges, and I am fully aware that they want nothing more than to earn a living and contribute to the community. It is absolutely vital that we provide jobseekers with a route into sustainable, long term employment, while local businesses are able to benefit from their enthusiasm and commitment.

"The campaign is doing fantastic work, and we must continue to strive to help those out of work to successfully find the employment they want".
